Dog on craigslist – questions?
I found a dog on craigslist that we’re interested in. What other questions should we be asking?
Here is the ad – http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/pet/1514268676.html
Questions I’ve already sent in an email to ask (no response yet, as I *just* sent it):
How big is he? Where did you originally get him? Does he have any health issues? Would you mind if we contacted his vet to inquire about his health status? Where does Hendrix currently stay while you’re away from home all day? Does he have free roam of the house or a yard, or is he in a crate?
Food dog is use to
Vaccinations
Wormings
Heart Worm Test, when did the dog last have one…
Has the dog ever been tested for temperament of genetic defects.
Is the dog on Heart Guard Plus
Health Issues
House trained or not
Crate Trained
Is the dog use to being let out in the yard, is the dog a jumper, or does the dog stay in the fence when let out to potty or to play…
Does he get along well with other dogs/animals
Does he get along well with strangers/kids/older people
Has he had any major surgeries
Is he use to riding in a vehicle with no problems
And, the most important question of all, is Why Are You Wanting to get rid of the Dog?>???be sure they give you an answer…..it could be health issues, bad manners, can’t seem to get the dog house trained, does not like kids or other animals….or do they just not have time to care properly for the dog.
And, how long have you owned the dog.
get to the bottom of it all.
get a vet health certificate, direct you get it, do not allow them to just turn over any old piece of paper, it is easy to doctor paperwork, you contact the dogs vet and have it faxed to you…to you..
good luck
